Fillings, crowns & bridges in Long Island
In addition to providing you with a beautiful smile, your teeth play an important role in your overall physiology. They’re the first stage in your digestive process, and they’re responsible for maintaining the structural integrity of your jawbone and your face. Without a full set of teeth, you can develop premature wrinkles in your face and your facial muscles can begin to sag. If you’re missing one or more of your teeth due to injury or disease, then call our Long Island office and ask about our restorative dental procedures that can help you regain a full set of teeth.
Why Would I Need Tooth Fillings?
If you have a tooth that has been damaged due to trauma or decay, then a tooth filling can restore functionality to the tooth and prevent further decay or damage. When you come to our office for a tooth filling, your dentist will remove the damaged part and clean the area. We’ll then fill the cavity with gold, porcelain or another material. Your dentist will recommend the best type of filling for your needs because not all types of fillings are suitable for all types of teeth.
Why Would I Need a Tooth Bridge or Crowns for Teeth?
Bridges and crowns are both permanently installed dental prosthetic devices that can restore function to missing or damaged teeth. They don’t need to be removed for special maintenance, and they’re installed using high-bond cement, so you don’t need to worry about them falling out or moving around. Crowns are often called dental caps because they cap the tooth. If you’re missing one or more teeth, then a bridge can restore functionality to the area. A bridge is comprised of a row of pontic teeth that are flanked by a crown on either end. The crowns are adhered to abutment teeth which anchor the bridge, but if only one abutment tooth is available, an implant can be used. If you need dental bridges or crowns in Long Island, then call our Long Island office to schedule an appointment.
Where Can I Get Restorative Dentistry?
All dentists can provide restorative dentistry; however, that doesn’t mean that all of them do. Our Long Island dental office provides some high-quality restorative dentistry in the area and we can help you regain the use and appearance of your teeth. If you want to schedule an appointment or have additional questions, then give us a call.
Is Restorative Dentistry Expensive?
Each dental procedure is unique to the patient and your cost will be unique to you. It will be influenced by the type and location of the procedure, any additional dental work, the materials used in the device, and any insurance benefits you may have. During your initial consultation, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive estimate, this ensures you understand how much your dental crown cost, tooth filling cost or dental bridge cost will be. If you need dental procedures, but can’t afford them, we’ll work with you on flexible financing and payment options so that you can afford the treatments you need.
Do I Have a Choice for Dental Fillings?
Tooth fillings are available in a variety of materials, but the most popular are an amalgam, porcelain, tooth-colored composite or gold. Your dentist will recommend the best type for your needs since not all types of fillings are appropriate for all types of teeth. Call our Long Island office for more information on tooth fillings.
Do I Have a Choice for Dental Crowns??
Like tooth fillings, dental crowns are available in a variety of materials. Our most popular include ceramic, porcelain that is fused to metal, alloys, and gold. Your dentist will recommend the best type for your needs, but ceramic is usually used for the front teeth.
Do I Have a Choice for a Dental Bridge?
Several types of bridges are available, but we most often use a traditional bridge or a cantilever bridge. A traditional bridge uses a row of pontic teeth with a crown at either end that’s affixed to an abutment tooth. If an abutment tooth isn’t available, then an implant will suffice. A cantilever bridge is used when an abutment tooth isn’t available on one side, but it’s not recommended for molars. If you need a bridge in Long Island, then call our office for an appointment.
What Will Happen When I Get a Tooth Crown Installed?
Getting a tooth crown installed in our office requires two office appointments and three procedures, and each procedure will take between 30 and 60 minutes. During the first office visit, your dentist will prepare the affected tooth and take an impression of it. The impression will be used to fabricate both the temporary and permanent crowns, and we’ll place the temporary before you leave our office. When your permanent crown arrives, you’ll return and we’ll place it on your tooth, adjust it for fit and comfort, and then we’ll permanently affix it using a high-bond cement.
What Will Happen When I Get a Tooth Bridge Installed?
When you have a bridge installed in our office, you’ll need two appointments. During the first appointment, we’ll prepare the abutment teeth and then take impressions of the area. These will be used as a model for both your permanent bridge and your temporary. We’ll install the temporary before you leave our office and you’ll wear it until your permanent bridge arrives. When that happens, you’ll return and we’ll place your permanent bridge. After we adjust it to ensure your maximum fit and comfort, then we’ll secure it using a high-bond adhesive.
