Our periodontist in Huntington places dental implants in a safe and comfortable manner. Our team is skilled at both conscious sedation and unconscious sedation. During conscious sedation, the patient remains awake during the dental implant procedure. The periodontist numbs the area a local anesthetic such as novacaine and can use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help patients feel comfortable and relaxed during the procedure.

If needed, the periodontist can prescribe an oral sedative such as Valium to help as well. If you would prefer to be asleep during the dental implant procedure, we can arrange to have a board-certified anesthesiologist come to our Long Island office to administer I.V. sedation. The patient sleeps through the entire procedure and wakes up with no memory.
